About Jazz Festivals and Workshops

What is Jazz?

Most jazz concerts have performers making up solos on the fly, which necessitates a high level of talent. Jazz is diverse, although much of it is fairly rhythmic, has a forward movement known as "swing," and employs "bent" or "blue" notes.

History of Jazz Music

Jazz consists of a genre of music that developed and grew throughout the late 1800s and early 1900s in New Orleans, Louisiana. This genre has its origins closely tied to that of "blues" and "ragtime." At the beginning of its conception, brass bands had reached an all time high in popularity. Jazz is historically associated being nourished by the African-American community.

Where Can I Attend a Workshop?

A workshop consists of a meeting between a group of people that engage in a discussion and activity on a particular subject. This would be a great opportunity to practice, learn, and enjoy the art of Jazz.
